The hotel catamaran serves as the living quarters and morning departure base, while fishing takes place from our dedicated fast boat.

Unspoiled and productive fishing areas in Madagascar

Offshore Expedition

Extreme North Expedition

On Madagascar’s northwestern coast, a mosaic of some of the country’s richest fishing grounds stretches out. From the legendary Cape San Sebastian and its pronounced underwater relief, to the renowned Courier Bay, via the surprising Intermediate Bank, these unspoiled areas offer a remarkable diversity of spots and species.

Shallow banks, coral reefs, rocky pinnacles, and steep drop offs shape a vast playground for technical, committed fishing. Trevallies, dogtooth tuna, greater amberjacks, marlins, groupers, wahoo, and other pelagics are found here in abundance, creating ideal conditions for popping, jigging, and trolling.

🟢 Fishing possible from September to June

Far South Expedition

South of Nosy Be, the prospecting area stretches along a vast coastal line, from the Radama Archipelago to Moramba Bay, via Nosy Lava and Narinda Bay. This region, still largely unspoiled, features a succession of shallow banks, coral reefs, open bays, and pronounced drop offs, perfectly suited to a wide range of fishing techniques.

By alternating popping on the plateaus to target trevallies, wahoo, barracuda, or yellowfin tuna, jigging along the breaks for dogtooth tuna, greater amberjacks, groupers, or GT, as well as bait fishing or trolling, each day offers the opportunity to explore highly varied and productive areas. A roaming style of fishing set in a spectacular environment, where the finest specimens abound.

These vast volcanic plateaus, combining shallow banks, abrupt rises, and coral formations, offer an exceptional playground that remains largely untouched.

Whether popping on the flats or jigging along the slopes and breaks, you will face the ocean’s top predators: powerful GT, dogtooth tuna, hard-fighting greater amberjacks, not to mention the pelagics that constantly patrol these extreme zones.

Practical information

At Nosy Be Rêves de Pêche, organisation is a top priority. Each expedition is defined at the time of booking and prepared with the utmost care. However, to ensure your safety and optimise fishing conditions, Nosy Be Rêves de Pêche reserves the right to adapt the destination according to weather or logistical conditions, with no change in price. This flexibility is an integral part of our approach and is designed to offer you the best possible experience.

The catamaran, used as a hotel base, is loaded with provisions and fuel the day before departure. On the scheduled day, the fishing departure takes place between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m. aboard the fast boat with our guests, for a first optimised day of fishing towards the chosen destination. The catamaran and its crew also depart in the morning and join the fast boat during the day.

Depending on fish activity, client expectations and the conditions encountered, the catamaran and fast boat skippers jointly define the best strategy. The catamaran may therefore change spot at the end of the day or in the morning. It acts as a mobile base camp, allowing the itinerary and fishing areas to be adapted throughout the expedition.

If weather conditions and sea state were to deteriorate, and in consultation with the manager and founder, the ongoing expedition may be redirected to another destination, notably from Leven Bank to Cape San Sebastian, in order to ensure safety and fishing quality.

For logistical reasons, a fishing expedition with catamaran is offered for a minimum duration of 5 days and a maximum of 9 days.

The expeditions can accommodate up to 8 anglers. Possibility to embark accompanying guests who remain on board the catamaran throughout the expedition, please contact us.
